Does He really guide me and answer my prayers?

Question”Does He really guide me and answer my prayers? I can’t feel the presence of the Holy Ghost it’s because I felt in my self that the Devil is the one hearing my prayers not the Lord. Is this a curse that I will forever inherit? Because I can feel that this curse will last forever. No matter what I do I failed. Please Help!

Sheryl, He really does answer all who seek His guidance. You have inherited no curse. Rather, you need to understand more fully the truth of Moroni 10:4. It says, “And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.”

Please know, that it is real, and not magic. So you can’t just call out words and expect Him to answer on demand. Sincere heart. Real intent. Having faith in Christ. These things apply to all our prayers. Now, I’ve no doubt your heart is sincere, and you surely seem to have some real intent in wishing to be answered! But how is your faith in Christ? You speak of the Devil intercepting your prayers as if Satan has power over Jesus – and he does not!

Grow then, your faith in Jesus Christ, and express that faith by the actions of all the things you know you should be doing, or doing more of! Daily scripture reading, regular and frequent prayers each day, weekly church attendance, proper performance of your callings and doing service work with a kind heart. A keeping of all your covenants, and in a spirit of “getting to” not “having to”! Do all those things and focus on getting – or growing – your faith in Christ, and then you will find that His guidance and answers come clearer and louder than you ever could have believed.

And go to your Bishop! He will be there for you, and can aid you in correcting whatever needs correcting, or improving whatever may need improving. Listen and hearken to his counsel, for he has been called and set apart to aid you!

After you have done all this, I give you my testimony that you will feel the presence of the Holy Ghost again, who I am believing has not left you at all, but is trying to aid you in getting yourself to a place where you can feel him and hear his still small voice! I say all this in the name of Jesus Christ, who is my Savior – and your Savior.
