Sometimes we feel alone out there in the big world of ours, and our knees become a bit wobbly, and our voices a bit shaky, as we are unsure of both ourselves and the direction we need to walk, in our temporal, spiritual and even our emotional lives. We need, and at times plead for assurances, someone to have confidence or trust in us. We even would like to be self assured, brimming with confidence, yet at times we are not, and therefore at times feel alone, lost, forgotten, and unimportant. There are those that seemingly, and some that are in fact full of confidence, being self assured in the things of this world. The fire, ego, or pride that lies within them, propels them to great heights and accomplishments. They in this state can even be used by the Lord, whereby they can be of benefit and good use to man, yet they miss the full purpose of this brief, but oh so importance of this existence. Their hearts will be explored, and examined.
If we want a genuine confidence, being self assured, we need the Lord’s confidence and assurance within. If we know the Lord is with us, we can overcome fear and more courageously stand for righteousness, forging ahead in life with greater confidence and assurance, in our temporal and spiritual lives. We need not look to the left or to the right, or to the world to give us these things, for within our souls we have the love, faith, affirmations, and promises of our God. However to receive all of these blessings we must choose to receive, and to follow him, and the greater we do, the more confidence and self assurance we can have, as we move forward, onward, and upward in our works, toil, and occupations, both spiritual, and temporally, in this life.
D&C 121:45 – 46 Let thy bowels also be full of charity towards all men, and to the household of faith, and let virtue garnish thy thoughts unceasingly; then shall thy confidence wax strong in the presence of God; and the doctrine of the priesthood shall distil upon thy soul as the dews from heaven. The Holy Ghost shall be thy constant companion, and thy scepter an unchanging scepter of righteousness and truth; and thy dominion shall be an everlasting dominion, and without compulsory means it shall flow unto thee forever and ever.
