Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of The Twelve Apostles share their experiences with her wife while visiting local members in South Korea. Elder Bednar published the following:
When Sister Bednar and I were assigned to visit Korea in 2008, we met two delightful young children as they welcomed us to their country.
During a recent assignment in Korea, we met with President Bungjae Jo of the Busan Korea Stake. President and Sister Jo are the parents of 10 children. Sister Bednar and I were pleasantly surprised to learn that his two teenage children were the same children who had greeted us so warmly eight years earlier.
We felt as Alma declared in the Book of Mormon. We “did rejoice exceedingly to see [our] brethren; and what added more to [our] joy, they were still [our] brethren in the Lord; yea, and they had waxed strong in the knowledge of the truth” (Alma 17:2). It was uplifting to return to Korea nearly a decade later and find this faithful family diligently living and loving the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The members of the Church in Korea are faithful and valiant. How grateful we are for this family and for other members in Korea—and the world—who make living the gospel the highest priority in their lives.
I testify that when we put obedience to the Lord’s commandments first in our lives, He guides and directs us in ways that will strengthen our faith and bring comfort and peace.
