SUBIC BAY, Philippines — Against the glistening waters of Subic Bay, a group of young single adults from the Makati 3rd Ward gathered not for an official church activity, but for something equally sacred in its own way—an afternoon of fellowship, fun, and freedom aboard a private yacht.
What began as a spontaneous plan among friends soon transformed into a memorable voyage that blended scenic adventure with emotional depth. For many, it marked a first: a literal and figurative leap into the open sea.
“This was on my bucket list,” one participant said. “I didn’t think I’d experience this so soon. It helped me heal my anxiety and feel so much love from our ward and from you guys.”
The experience was not just about luxury or escapism. It was about shared joy—about stepping away from the pressures of urban life and wading into a space where connection came naturally. With music playing, sea breeze in their hair, and a deep blue horizon stretching endlessly, the young adults swam, took photos, laughed, and even cheered each other on as they dove into the water.
The yacht may have been rented, but the sense of community was genuine and anchored.
“These aren’t just friends,” another attendee noted. “This is family.”
While the outing was informal and independent of the Church’s official programming, it mirrored the spirit of the YSA mission: to strengthen testimonies and build lasting bonds. The shared sense of gratitude was palpable as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of gold and pink.
In an age where digital connections often replace real-life ones, the Makati 3rd Ward YSAs chose something different: to be present, to be brave, and to be together.
No word yet on where their next adventure will lead. But one thing is certain—whether on land or sea, this community sails forward with faith, friendship, and a steady course toward joy.
